Card Shark is a game designed based on my love for Texas Hold'em Poker, and the movie "Rounders". I want to make an RPG where the game loop is playing Texas Hold'em, but, you had the ability to cheat. But if you get caught, there are consequences...
Are you all in?
The fun thing about this game is you start out playing low key games in garages, or warehouses, and eventually you work your way up to tournaments. It is a single player game (could expand to multiplayer), but the player is in a world with 31 AI players. The AI players will progress in their careers according to their stats, and you as the player will encounter them often in the games you play on your way "to the big time".
You and Lenny both start out in the slammer. Running numbers for a horse race, no big deal, you'll be out soon. But your financially ruined, and Lenny has a plan to make some side scratch. He teaches you Texas Hold'em.
Then you get out, scrape together enough enough money for a crappy apartment, and every night, Lenny and you go out and find poker games. Lenny is your driver and bodyguard, although, if you get caught cheating, Lenny can't save you!
The status on this game in "IN DEVELOPMENT". It's a favorite of mine, and I really do hope it gets it's chance to shine.
This game I designed to be comfortable to play on phones and iPads, and so at the time, the aspect ratios on those apple devices was a bit different, the iPad being more squarish and the phone was more like a widescreen TV. So I designed the game with this in mind, and came up with this layout that had a little extra on the sides, very similar to what films did in the 1980s-90s when adapting to VHS and the home TV.
